"The failed single-father"

Films: Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993)

Alias: Radon, Rado, Fire Rodan, Fire Radon

Type: Ancient

Location: Mountains/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: 70 meters and 16,000 metric tons.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: One of Godzilla's biggest rivals (not enemies) was Rodan, the kind of kaiju who seemed to want to upstage everyone. But now, he's a bit different. More powerful, but also with a lot more baggage.

History: On the shores of Adonoa Island, Rodan lives next to a strange egg that actually belongs to Godzilla. Funnily enough, Rodan had grown rather fond of the egg, believing it to either be a surrogate son or brother. But Godzilla clearly didn't agree, and had the pterosaur blasted into oblivion. But then after a while, the newly hatched Baby Godzilla got Rodan's attention, and he revived as the much more powerful Fire Rodan, immediately heading to where the baby was located.

Notable Kills: Nothing special

Final Fate: Fire Rodan is seemingly killed by Mechagodzilla, only for Baby Godzilla's cries to revive him for a bit so that he may transfer his power to the then-incapacitated Godzilla, sacrificing his life in the process.

Powers/Abilities: Rodan has the supersonic hurricane winds, as well as a uranium heat ray.

Weakness: Beings of equal or greater power.

Scariness Factor: 4-It wouldn't be Rodan if it weren't a city-wrecking pterosaur with the power of a hurricane. But while this Rodan is many times stronger than his original incarnation, he's mostly motivated by a need to protect his surrogate family, so maybe things would have gone smoother if we dropped the hate boner for Godzilla and took the hint.

Trivia: -Originally, the film was going to feature a mated pair of Rodans, similar to the kaiju's debut film. The female, known as White Rodan, would have been the one to be powered up while the male would have been killed by Mechagodzilla.

-A scrapped scene would have included a Godzillasaurus and a pterosaur fighting in the past, explaining Godzilla and Rodan's animosity towards each other.
